At an assembly at Rosemont School the children presented Capital Cares with a song.

You are our partners, educational partners,
We thank you Kristen, Gregg, Nicole, Stacey, Cam.
You were so eager and enthusiastic,
You made plan and boy were they grand.
There was the BBQ back in October,
On our front awn, burgers you did cook,
Right in the back of, a half ton truck,
Every one had to take a second look.
Remember Hats On, for the United Way,
And the class that raised the most money then,
Won special cookies; with our Roadrunner logo.
They were great from the first bite to end.
Grade one and three class, went on a bus trip,
To Sherwood Library they all did go,
To watch a puppet show that was enjoyed.
We say thanks and want you to know.
There was the contest, a Lincoln car contest,
Design a Lincoln that you think is cool.
The winning designs were put in Saturday’s paper,
And they hung, poster-sized in our school.
You supplied volunteers for Christmas crafts,
Santa Store donations of toys and much more,
There was a dinner made by the Delta,
It was paid and served by you for sure.
You then collected, clothes to give away,
And organized an Appreciation Lunch,
You supervised all of the lunchrooms,
So staff had time to munch and munch.
Cam came and spent time with grade 7 and 8,
Telling them all about advertising that’s true,
They had a project, an advertising project,
Just to catch the eye of me and you.
It is March now and the Pats hockey,
When 40 people to a Pat’s game went,
Thanks for the tickets and transportation,
You don’t know just how much that meant.
From grade 7 and 8’s, four students were chosen,
To visit Rawlco Radio with Cam,
They for to see, how to be a DJ,
And guess what, they’re now all Rawlco fans.
There is Capital Ford and Capital Pontiac
Universal Collision and McKenzie Sales,
Let is not forget Thrifty Car Rentals,
All together, we call you Capital Cares.
You joined our community, our Rosemont community,
And made a difference in so many ways,
We’re looking forward to many years together.
We’re a team, three cheers to you we say….
Three cheers for Capital Cares!
Hip hip hooray!
Hip hip hooray!
Hip hip hooray!

Nelly has collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make his very own tricked-out Mustang GT which will appear on the front cover of his album’s artwork; it is set to be released in March 30, 2010.

“Nelly is a true car guy, there’s no denying that. When Nelly expressed interest in wanting to partner with Ford on the all-new 2011 Ford Mustang GT, we knew it was a perfect fit. The Mustang has such appeal within the urban market. Since it was launched, the vehicle has made appearances in several of the most popular urban films. This was just a great opportunity for Ford, and we’re excited that the Mustang GT is going to be a part of one of the most anticipated albums of 2010.” – Crystal Worthem, Ford’s Multicultural Marketing Communications Manager.

Learn more about this awesome partnership between Nelly and Ford by reading on!

Nelly’s Mustang GT came to life after the artist caught a glimpse of the vehicle while inside the walls of Ford’s design studio a little more than a year ago as part of a partnership tied to the launch of the 2009 Ford Flex.

"They’re really going in the direction of the people, so to speak. It’s aggressive, it’s alive, and it’s definitely youthful."

Nelly has since then collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make the Mustang his own while still keeping the vehicle true to its muscle car roots.

“I’m itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets. This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel that the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting.”

The 35-year-old rapper, actor and mogul, who was most recently ranked third on Billboard Magazine’s “Artist of the Decade List,” says the Mustang is one of the hottest muscle cars ever to hit the streets.

Nelly said he got his love of cars from his family, including his grandfather and his father. “I probably shouldn’t say this but my father used to street race with me in the back seat. And at the time it sounded beautiful,” he said. “It’s probably a little dangerous now. But at the time I loved it.”

Nelly says he can’t wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.

The exterior of the vehicle features a custom gloss black paint job with flat black racing stripes and a Street Scenes body kit complete with custom 22- and 24-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle also includes a billet grille, hood scoop, tinted taillights, angel eyes headlights and a Borla exhaust. In addition, the interior is a complete suede and leather design with a custom JL Audio system that includes two 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speakers. Nelly says he can’t wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.

Helen Keller once said most people die with their music still locked inside of them and that we all have our hand on the music dial of life, and if the number was 1 to 10 why would you ever turn your volume down…why put it at 7 if 10 was available? Level 10 is a phrase that you hear around the dealerships daily, something people strive for and truly believe in. Level 10 comes with a creed, an expectation, and an understanding that no matter what the circumstances you will bring your best everyday, every time, without fail, no exceptions.

Continue reading to see our creed for Level 10.

Our Creed

“I hereby promise to begin today to manifest the personal greatness I know lies within me….To improve the quality of my life, to learn more, laugh more, care more, share more and risk more. I control my personal destiny and I recognize if it is to be… it is up to me. This is the day in my life I summon the courage to face my fears and turn them into stepping stones of success. I will be the prisoner of nothing. I am someone special. I will live my life… at Level 10… Every Day… Every Time… Without Fail… No Exceptions.”

In 2009 we developed the Level 10 award at Rosemont School. And each year look forward to awarding a student that fits the following criteria:

· A Volunteer

· Shows Leadership

· A Mentor

· Helps Teachers

· Is Involvement in School Activities

· Acts as an Ambassador for Rosemont School

· Is Respectful

· Has a Positive Attitude

· Sets a Good Example for Other Students

· And is Involved in the Community

The award is presented to a grade 8 student at their graduation.

On March 7th 2010 at Rosemont Community School, Capital Cares and partners held our 3rd annual clothing giveaway.

Our Capital Cares campaign started February 1st 2010. With the help of the staff and family of the Capital Automotive Group and together with the Rosemont community we collected donations. We filled three trucks up with clothes (children and adult), footwear, toys and sporting goods. Keep reading to learn more!

By 1.30 pm on Sunday people from the community had successfully found what they needed and cleared off 6 tables. The clothing drive continued until 4.00 pm and the remaining clothes will be donated to families in need.

Socks, mittens, winter jackets and ski pants were put away for the students of Rosemont School, for those cold winter days spend running around outside on the playground.

We are grateful that we can be apart of something that makes an impact on the community. Although it is a small effort in the grand scheme of things we know we helped many families and for that reason we will continue on and try and make a difference.

Capital Cares is an initiative to improve the work place and the community. That is formed by the employees of Capital Pontiac Buick Cadillac GMC, Capital Ford Lincoln, Universal Collision Centre, McKenzie Sales and Leasing and Thrifty Car and Truck Rental (Regina and Saskatoon), for the employees. The committee’s goal is to enhance the presence of team work between the employees of the different stores. The five main goals are to improve employee’s satisfaction, community involvement/charity work, communication improvement, unity among stores, and to enhance lives within the team of the Capital Automotive Group.

In 2008 Capital Cares developed a business relationship with Rosemont Community School in Regina. We wanted to create and sustain a direct, ongoing and mutually beneficial partnership with a school with hopes that by focusing on one community that we would make a bigger impact.

Our overall goal is to provide additional resources, experiences and opportunities for the students, parents and community. In forming our relationship we wish to present the children with direction toward future education and professional development; and overall enhancing the student experience. In helping Rosemont School we anticipate it will help us achieve our Capital Cares Committee goal of becoming more involved with the community, and developing a stronger bond among the Capital Automotive Group employees.

Capital Cares is thrilled to continue planning and organizing events for our partnership and was proud when we received the formal announcement from the Regina Public School Board that our partnership had been accepted.

This is the first of a new column on the Capital Tailgate called “Leafy Lundi” geared towards the greener side of vehicles and auto manufacturing. Ford is the green leader among manufacturers, always works towards sustainability and improving manufacturing processes. As a Ford Dealer, Capital Ford is proud to bring to light some of the highlights along with our own tips and internal processes for a greener business and improved corporate responsibility. The Leafy-Lundi column name is derived from the spin on Monday. We’re publishing green highlights every Monday and as you may already know, Lundi is french for Monday. As corny as it is, we thought it had a better ring then Green-Monday. Let us know in the comments if you agree.

Let’s start Leafy-Lundi with some solid fundamental fuel efficiency best practices.

Keep Your Tires Properly Inflated

Every 1 PSI drop in tire pressure cuts your gas mileage by 0.4%. Properly inflated tires are safer and last longer.

Your potential savings: $64/year (17 gallons or 64.35 Liters per year)

Use The Recommended Motor Oil

You can improve your gas mileage by 1-2% by using the manufacturer’s recommended grade of motor oil. Also, look for motor oil that says “Energy Conserving” on the API performance symbol to be sure it contains friction-reducing additives.

Your potential savings: $41/year (11 gallons or 41.63 Liters per year)

Clean Out Your Trunk

Heavy loads cut into your mileage. Every 100 pounds of unneeded cargo reduces your mileage by 1-2%.

Your potential savings: $41/year (11 gallons or 41.63 Liters per year)

Remove Your Roof Rack

Roof racks are can be a great convenience, but they also create drag that reduces your fuel efficiency by 5%. Remove the rack if you won’t be using it.

Your potential savings: $109/year (29 gallons or 109.77 Liters per year)

Keep Your Engine Tuned

Tuning an engine on average improves mileage by 4%, although fixing severe problems, such as a faulty oxygen sensor can improve mileage by as much as 40%.

Your potential savings: $87/year (23 gallons or 87.06 Liters per year)

Service Your Car Regularly

Dirty air filters, old spark plugs, and low fluid levels can reduce your mileage. (Varies)

YOUR POTENTIAL SAVINGS TOTAL: $342/year (91 gallons or 344.47 Liters per year)

YOUR POTENTIAL SAVINGS TOTAL: $342 per year. What will you buy with the money you save?

Some Extra Tips:

Don’t mash your pedals – Aggressive acceleration and braking can cut your fuel efficiency by up to 33% on highways. Anticipate changes to traffic for smoother starts and stops.

Roll up your windows – Open windows increase drag, cutting your mileage up to 10% on highways.

Go easy on the air conditioning – Blasting the A/C can cut your mileage by 20%. Use it only when you need it.

Control your speed – Most vehicles get maximum fuel efficiency around 60 miles per hour. At higher speeds, air drag increases exponentially. Use cruise control to maintain a steady speed.

Use higher gears – Higher gears allow your engine to run at lower speeds, saving engine wear and gas.

Avoid excessive idling – When you idle, you’re getting 0 miles the gallon. Don’t leave your engine running if you plan to be stationary for more than a minute.

Avoid rush hour commutes – If you can stagger your commutes, you can avoid the stop-and-go traffic that burns so much gas.

Share rides, bike to work, or take public transportation – The best way to save gas is not to drive at all.

Have any tips that have worked for you and your family? Let us know!

The TV star’s long-running relationship with his 1992 Ford Taurus SHO was challenged when the all-new 2010 Taurus SHO made an appearance on the late-night comedy show on October 29, 2009. A national audience saw firsthand whether O’Brien’s loyal love for his Jewel Green SHO could be tempted with the latest SHO head-turner from Ford.

O’Brien’s second-generation Taurus SHO has been the focus of the late night comedian’s skits many times including during O’Brien’s premier as host of “The Tonight Show” earlier this year.

During the skit O’Brien, who is confident there could never be a better performance sedan than his 1992 Taurus SHO, is tempted by the 2010 model’s 365-horespower V-6 and its high tech features. Amy Marentic, Ford’s Group marketing manager for Taurus, teaches O’Brien a thing or two when it comes to the Taurus SHO.

In 1989 the Taurus SHO was created for those automotive enthusiast needing the room and capability of a four-door full-size car. Loved for its high performance and unassuming exterior the Ford Taurus resulted in over 100,000 sales in the limited production throughout 1999.

The original Taurus SHO generated a loyal following of owners, with an active club more than 1,000 members strong, an online forum with more than 10,000 registered users and a Web site (bringbackthesho.com) specifically devoted to convincing Ford to resurrect the SHO. The 2010 Taurus product development team spent significant time listening to SHO enthusiasts.

The new Taurus debuted to rave reviews from the automotive press, and early customer demand validates the critical acclaim. The foundation of the new 2010 Taurus SHO is a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V-6 engine. This advanced powerplant generates an estimated 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 ft.-lbs. of torque at 3,500 rpm, resulting in significantly improved power, torque and fuel economy compared with larger, normally aspirated engines. This also is Ford’s most powerful EcoBoost engine.

In 2008 Funkmaster Flex rolled out a limited edition Expedition with two-tone Colorado Red and Black paint scheme with orange pin striping and special chrome badging. If that wasn’t enough it also sported custom front fascia with integrated fog lamps, side skirts, rear fascia and 20 inch chrome clad aluminum wheels. Matching Colorado Red instrument panel, console, shifter and switch bezels blend with four leather captain chairs, steering wheel and head rests all with red stitching make the interior as flashy as the exterior. Rounding out the package is Sirius satellite radio and an exclusive numbered dash plaque signed by Funkmaster Flex. Oh and I forgot to mention the 340-watt Audiophile Sound System, MP3 players audio jack, power fold third row seating, heated and cooled seats and why not go all out with optional navigation system, power liftgate and rear DVD entertainment system!

In 2008 Funkmaster Flex Rolled Out A Limited Edition Expedition.

A fan asks “What is unique about the Ford that other cars manufacturers don’t have? How many Fords do you have?” Funkmaster Flex replies with, “I love how ford has changed up the sheet metal over the last 5 years. I own an Expedition, 2010 mustang, 1970 mustang. 1971 Torino and 1968 Fastback Mustang.”

Funkmaster Flex is an avid car enthusiast, customizing new vehicles and building vintage cars with special attention to style and performance. Most recently, Flex customized the all-new 2010 Ford Taurus SHO and what does he love most? “My favorites are the SYNC technology and Eco Boost. There are others such as BLIS and Cross Traffic Alert.”

<img class="size-medium wp-image-524" title="SHO" src="http://capitaltailgate.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/SHO-300x199.jpg" alt="FMF says, “My favorites are the SYNC technology and Eco Boost. There are others such as BLIS and Cross Traffic Alert.”

“Here’s a vehicle that has so much history and stands on its own in terms of design and attitude,” said Funkmaster Flex. “It’s definitely different from anything that I’ve ever done before. It’s much more subdued and doesn’t scream at you in terms of its paint job and overall effect. I really took a vehicle that already had everything in terms of its styling and design and gave it a real stealth-like feel.”

Earl Lucas, designer of the all-new 2010 Taurus SHO knew exactly what Funkmaster Flex wanted to convey when he met with him in the Bronx during the initial design consultation.

“Flex wanted to put his spin on the vehicle while keeping the Taurus’s history and sophistication in mind. Flex was able to take that inspiration and customize it in a way that was both timeless and mature,” said Lucas.

The exterior of the vehicle features a two-tone black and metal grey paint job complete with custom 22-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle was also lowered with a HR spring kit and a Billet Grille and custom door handles were added.

In addition, the vehicle features a one-off front spoiler and rear window wing. All of the rims and the trim in the vehicle were finished in brushed black chrome. The interior was left the same with the exception of adding a black suede headliner and the signature FMF logos on the headrests.

“Flex really created a design that veered away from what we traditionally expect from him,” said Lucas. “He is amazing in what he does and what he ultimately did to this vehicle. When you get a chance to work with someone who has perspective on what’s new, what’s hot and what’s now, it’s great.”
