Nelly’s Mustang GT came to life after the artist caught a glimpse of the vehicle while inside the walls of Ford’s design studio a little more than a year ago as part of a partnership tied to the launch of the 2009 Ford Flex.

"They’re really going in the direction of the people, so to speak. And it’s beautiful," Nelly said. "The youth nowadays -- they want everything so aggressive and so alive. So I think the 5.0 is all that. It’s aggressive, it’s alive, and it’s definitely youthful."

Nelly has since then collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make the Mustang his own while still keeping the vehicle true to its muscle car roots.

“I’m itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets. This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel that the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting.”

The 35-year-old rapper, actor and mogul, who was most recently ranked third on Billboard Magazine’s “Artist of the Decade List,” says the Mustang is one of the hottest muscle cars ever to hit the streets.

Nelly said he got his love of cars from his family, including his grandfather and his father. “I probably shouldn’t say this but my father used to street race with me in the back seat. And at the time it sounded beautiful,” he said. “It’s probably a little dangerous now. But at the time I loved it.”

Nelly says he can’t wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.

The exterior of the vehicle features a custom gloss black paint job with flat black racing stripes and a Street Scenes body kit complete with custom 22- and 24-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle also includes a billet grille, hood scoop, tinted taillights, angel eyes headlights and a Borla exhaust. In addition, the interior is a complete suede and leather design with a custom JL Audio system that includes two 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speakers. Nelly says he can’t wait to hit the streets in his 2011 Mustang GT.

They’ve been around awhile – a snippet of advice here, an old adage there. They’re the guidelines that are supposed to help keep cars running in top condition. Problem is, most of them aren’t based in fact – or they’re just plain outdated. So Ford decided to get in the game and debunk a few of the most popular maintenance myths. Read on and let the Myth Busting begin!

MYTH: Cars need oil changes every three months or 3,000 miles.
False: That used to be true, but not with newer cars. Because of synthetic oils that don’t break down as quickly, consumers actually don’t need oil changes as often – more like every 5,000 to 7,500 miles – or even 10,000 on the new 2011 Mustang depending on your driving habits.

SAVE: With the new extended mileage, consumers need only about two oil changes a year, cutting their bill for oil changes in half – you could pocket upward of $50 a year or $650 in the lifetime of your car and do something to help the environment by saving oil.

MYTH: You need to let your vehicle engine warm up in cold weather.
False: The engine warms up while you drive. Running your car any longer beforehand is just a waste of gas.

SAVE: Depending on engine size, temperature and other variables, modern cars can use about a third of a gallon of gas per hour while idling. By giving up that 10-minute idle every weekday morning, you could save more than a gallon a month – $32 a year or $416 over the life of the vehicle.

MYTH: Premium gas is a treat for your car.
False: Unless your vehicle is specifically tailored to take advantage of the higher octane level in the fuel, you’re wasting your money. Go by what is recommended in your owner’s manual and leave it at that.

SAVE: At current gas prices, drivers may save up to $150 a year by opting for unleaded gas instead of premium.

MYTH: The number listed on the sidewall of your tire is the recommended tire pressure. False: In most cases, this is actually the maximum pressure allowed for that tire. The recommended amount of pressure is usually listed on the inside door panel – check your owner’s manual to be sure.

SAVE: The government estimates that the average driver’s tires are underinflated by 26 percent. An average driver with underinflated tires could add $79 a year to his or her fuel bill – or more than $1,027 in the lifetime of the vehicle.

MYTH: New vehicles don’t need tune-ups.

SAVE: Although it is true that newer vehicles require tune-ups less often, worn spark plugs, fuel restricted fuel injectors and dirty filters can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30%.

MYTH: I can keep driving when a light comes on in the instrument panel.

SAVE: Any modern car includes warning lights for various parts of the vehicle should the onboard computer detect something isn’t working properly. When you see one of these lights go on don’t ignore it. Check your vehicle owner’s manual to confirm what you need to check if it isn’t obvious. This may prevent more expensive repairs and excessive fuel consumption.

MYTH: My vehicle is hard on fuel and I’ve done everything there is and there is nothing else I can do.

SAVE: Consider a Nitrogen Fill in your tires. Although this is fairly new technology, it is proven to increase fuel economy by sustaining a constant air pressure in your tires. Nitrogen also increases tire life by up to 30%. This service is also relatively inexpensive and should be considered especially when buying new tires.

There is a lot you will choose to believe about your car, and you can’t say that you’ve never heard or followed at least one of these myths. But now you know, and you can start saving again! Over 31 and a half thousand vehicles were sold across Canada in June (many of those coming out of the Capital Ford Lincoln lot) with car sales up by 23 percent and truck sales up by 13 percent. See what the CEO had to say about this awesome fact by reading on.

CEO David Mondragon is amazed at the numbers. In an interview, Mondragon says:

“When you see the Ford brand posted a 25 percent increase (last) June when the industry was down 14 percent, you see a 16 percent gain this June is extremely significant.”

This is just the beginning. Ford is introducing revamped models like the Fiesta that are starting to roll into lots. Powered by a new 412-hp, 5-0 liter V8 engine, the 2011 Ford Mustang has one of the best fuel economies in its class at 23 kilometers per litre in the city and 37 on the highway for a manual transmission with an automatic going at 24 and 36. If dealing with a 3.7 liter, V6 engine, you are looking at 25 and 41 with manual transmission and 26 and 42 with an automatic.

The new changes are much more than just engines and powertrains. This news comes just days after the Mustang V-6 cracked the record books as the most fuel-efficient Mustang ever, and the first production car in history to produce 305 horsepower and 42 mpg on the highway.

Some of the features that contribute to the performance include new EPAS that eliminates the drag of an engine operated hydraulic power steering pump; real axle ratios that combine for a relaxed cruising rpm and all out acceleration, and aerodynamic improvements like a taller air dam, tire spats on the rear wheels and modified underbody shields.

A pair of new transmissions, both with six forward ratios, also play a large part in making the 2011 Mustang a breakthrough car. Whether or not you want to shift for yourself or let the car shift for you, you will be  treated to carefully chosen gear ratios to maximize fuel economy while still delivering high-horsepower performance.

Dennis Kuzak is the Ford’s Group Vice-President for Global product development. He says the 2011 Mustang exceeds expectations in every category, and that it is unprecedented for anyone to offer this kind of horsepower and fuel economy in a comfortable, beautiful and more importantly, affordable package.

The Ford Escape is the #1 selling compact SUV in Canada since 2004 and we here at Capital Ford Lincoln sell more than anyone else in Saskatchewan.

Did you know that a hybrid version of the Escape was released in 2004, making it the first hybrid SUV ever? And that the hybrid version of the 2010 Escape is the most fuel efficient SUV on the planet! It has an EPA estimated 34 city and 31 highway miles per gallon in front-wheel drive. Now that surely is a mighty green vehicle!

That’s not all either! There are so many other green features in the new Ford Escape Hybrid, and they don’t all have to do with the engine either. Keep reading to learn about these features!

Even cloth seat fabric on the interior is eco-friendly. The material is made from recycled polyester fibers that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill. To add to this, all the cushions in the Escape are made with a bio-based polyurethane foam that is made from the oils of plants like soybeans. The interior is durable, comfortable, and stylish and of course green, which suits the Escape Hybrid perfectly.

However, the most important green part of the Escape Hybrid is the flex-fuel-capable engine. It is designed to use either regular gasoline or E85 alternative fuel, allowing the owner of the vehicle a choice. How about that? Being able to pick between the two?

The Hybrid is also partially an electrically-driven vehicle. The newly released nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH) battery, which stores the vehicle’s energy, is located under the flat rear cargo area floor. The electric motor is capable of moving the Hybrid up to 70 km/hour on its own. But when more power is needed, the electric and gasoline engines combine power to give that extra acceleration needed.

Something else on the Hybrid that is pretty smart and green is the regenerative braking system! What is a regenerative braking system you ask? Well, when braking in a regular vehicle, the energy produced is usually lost as heat, but in the Escape Hybrid, the electric motor captures the energy created and sends it back to the battery pack. So basically, when you apply the brakes in the Hybrid you’re recharging the battery pack.

And in addition to the all the wonderfully green features, you get even more when it comes to your warranty. The 2010 Ford Escape Hybrid comes with an extended warranty covering the unique Hybrid components such as the high-voltage battery eCVT and DC/DC Converter.

See? Being green is easier.

Okay. Now that I got that out I can now explain how much I personally want a 2011 Ford Fiesta! I want a purple one especially, I mean Bright Magenta Metallic. The colors are so great, and so different from typical vehicle colors. They’re fun, hip and exciting, literally. It’s had to explain how a color is exciting, but these are.

I’ve never seen a Fiesta up close and personal yet, (keyword being ‘yet’), but I’m really liking what I’m seeing in pictures and what I’m reading online and hearing from others. I so badly want to test drive one!

The design of the Fiesta is so sleek, sporty and fun and it comes with lots of great features! Small cars are the best, and I love them for just that reason – they’re small! However, the interior of the Fiesta is supposed to be quite roomy and I can’t wait to find out how roomy it is!

Some of the features that I found the most intriguing to me out of the many that the Fiesta has are:

The dual clutch technology in the Fiesta isn’t new to the car world, but it is the first time the technology has ever been available in a car this size. Now, I’ve never personally driven a standard, but this dual clutch is supposed to be better. It combines two clutches that do the work for you to make the vehicle an automatic, but it is also better for the efficiency of the car and uses less fuel!

Another thing I can’t wiat to see is the key sensing system that is totally hands-free! The way it works is that by touching the door handle, the car senses the keys in your pocket, purse, or wherever and unlocks the doors for you! Is that sweet or what?

Now, I have to say that the dashboard in the Fiesta looks pretty darn awesome. It’s supposed to be cell-phone inspired and I totally see it. I really like the Sync technology that is available, especially with the cell-phone ban. It also has an audio input which is great for an iPod-using junkie like me. I never go anywhere without it, but I can’t plug it in to most vehicles and that bums me. But with the Fiesta, you totally can and have you’re iPod library at your finger tips just like that.

I’m absolutely pumped for the 2011 Ford Fiesta realease in Canada and will totally go out to test drive one when they arrive. I’m in love with this little car, how about you? If not, well then I think you should be! Get on the Fiesta fan-wagon and have some fun!

He adds that Ford, the police vehicle market leader for 15 years, specifically designed and engineered an all-new Police Interceptor to handle the rigors of police work, including industry-leading powertrain, safety and technology innovations.

“Nice,” you say, temporarily forgetting that you’re under arrest.

You learn that Ford will also add a second Police Interceptor to the lineup, a utility vehicle to provide customers a choice of the best vehicle to suit their needs. More details will be released in the third quarter of this year.

“Very cool,” you say, thinking everything’s going to be a-okay.

To develop the all-new Police Interceptor, Ford engineers worked hand-in-hand with Ford’s Police Advisory Board of law enforcement professionals, which provided input on key vehicle attributes such as safety, performance, durability, driver comfort and functionality.

“That was very thoughtful of them to do that,” you say.

“You don’t know the half of it, buddy,” O’Brien says as the car pulls up to the station.
