Nelly has collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make his very own tricked-out Mustang GT which will appear on the front cover of his album’s artwork; it is set to be released in March 30, 2010.

“Nelly is a true car guy, there’s no denying that. When Nelly expressed interest in wanting to partner with Ford on the all-new 2011 Ford Mustang GT, we knew it was a perfect fit. The Mustang has such appeal within the urban market. Since it was launched, the vehicle has made appearances in several of the most popular urban films. This was just a great opportunity for Ford, and we’re excited that the Mustang GT is going to be a part of one of the most anticipated albums of 2010.” – Crystal Worthem, Ford’s Multicultural Marketing Communications Manager.

Learn more about this awesome partnership between Nelly and Ford by reading on!

Nelly’s Mustang GT came to life after the artist caught a glimpse of the vehicle while inside the walls of Ford’s design studio a little more than a year ago as part of a partnership tied to the launch of the 2009 Ford Flex.

<img class="size-medium wp-image-549 " style="margin: 0px;" title="Nelly and Flex" src="http://capitaltailgate.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/Nelly-and-Flex-300x225.jpg" alt=""They’re really going in the direction of the people, so to speak. It’s aggressive, it’s alive, and it’s definitely youthful."

Nelly has since then collaborated with Ford’s design team and DUB’s customization team to make the Mustang his own while still keeping the vehicle true to its muscle car roots.

“I’m itching to get behind the wheel of my Mustang and really take it out on the streets. This vehicle being a part of my album artwork is just a reflection of the direction and feel that the album has. To be able to partner with Ford again on another vehicle that is going to change the automotive game is exciting.”

The 35-year-old rapper, actor and mogul, who was most recently ranked third on Billboard Magazine’s “Artist of the Decade List,” says the Mustang is one of the hottest muscle cars ever to hit the streets.

Nelly said he got his love of cars from his family, including his grandfather and his father. “I probably shouldn’t say this but my father used to street race with me in the back seat. And at the time it sounded beautiful,” he said. “It’s probably a little dangerous now. But at the time I loved it.”

The exterior of the vehicle features a custom gloss black paint job with flat black racing stripes and a Street Scenes body kit complete with custom 22- and 24-inch wheels and Pirelli tires. The vehicle also includes a billet grille, hood scoop, tinted taillights, angel eyes headlights and a Borla exhaust. In addition, the interior is a complete suede and leather design with a custom JL Audio system that includes two 12-inch subwoofers, amps and speakers.

Capital Ford Lincoln was proud to give and show their support for the 2010 First Nations University of Canada Pow-wow. With the help of our contribution the Committee was able to raise over twenty five hundred dollars.

The Pow-wow that the FNUniv puts on is always the first one of the year and is considered one of the biggest Pow-wows in Saskatchewan. It attracts more than 7000 visitors from across Canada and the United States.

The spring celebration unites families and communities and demonstrates First Nations traditions through a variety of song and dance. It is also a celebration that announces new life and gives thanks for sharing in the rebirth of the land.

It was a great honor to be able to support such a great community event, especially one that has such a positive effect on the First Nations peoples of Saskatchewan.

Those snippets of advice you have been hearing for years and years might be outdated – or just plain wrong. You don’t need to buy gas in the morning to save money, and you no longer need to get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. There may be other ways you’re wasting money on your vehicle, too. By implementing small changes, you could save a lot of money.

They’ve been around awhile – a snippet of advice here, an old adage there. They’re the guidelines that are supposed to help keep cars running in top condition. Problem is, most of them aren’t based in fact – or they’re just plain outdated. So Ford decided to get in the game and debunk a few of the most popular maintenance myths. Read on and let the Myth Busting begin!

MYTH: Cars need oil changes every three months or 3,000 miles.
False: That used to be true, but not with newer cars. Because of synthetic oils that don’t break down as quickly, consumers actually don’t need oil changes as often – more like every 5,000 to 7,500 miles – or even 10,000 on the new 2011 Mustang depending on your driving habits.

SAVE: With the new extended mileage, consumers need only about two oil changes a year, cutting their bill for oil changes in half – you could pocket upward of $50 a year or $650 in the lifetime of your car and do something to help the environment by saving oil.

MYTH: You need to let your vehicle engine warm up in cold weather.
False: The engine warms up while you drive. Running your car any longer beforehand is just a waste of gas.

SAVE: Depending on engine size, temperature and other variables, modern cars can use about a third of a gallon of gas per hour while idling. By giving up that 10-minute idle every weekday morning, you could save more than a gallon a month – $32 a year or $416 over the life of the vehicle.

MYTH: Premium gas is a treat for your car.
False: Unless your vehicle is specifically tailored to take advantage of the higher octane level in the fuel, you’re wasting your money. Go by what is recommended in your owner’s manual and leave it at that.

SAVE: At current gas prices, drivers may save up to $150 a year by opting for unleaded gas instead of premium.

MYTH: The number listed on the sidewall of your tire is the recommended tire pressure. False: In most cases, this is actually the maximum pressure allowed for that tire. The recommended amount of pressure is usually listed on the inside door panel – check your owner’s manual to be sure.

SAVE: The government estimates that the average driver’s tires are underinflated by 26 percent. An average driver with underinflated tires could add $79 a year to his or her fuel bill – or more than $1,027 in the lifetime of the vehicle.

Ford covers some good points here, and even here at Capital Ford Lincoln our Fixed Operations Director, Ivan Liebel, got in on the myth-busting and shared some of his own myths and how to save tips!

Fixed Operations Director, Ivan Liebel’s Myths!

MYTH: New vehicles don’t need tune-ups.

SAVE: Although it is true that newer vehicles require tune-ups less often, worn spark plugs, fuel restricted fuel injectors and dirty filters can reduce fuel efficiency as much as 30%.

MYTH: I can keep driving when a light comes on in the instrument panel.

SAVE: Any modern car includes warning lights for various parts of the vehicle should the onboard computer detect something isn’t working properly. When you see one of these lights go on don’t ignore it. Check your vehicle owner’s manual to confirm what you need to check if it isn’t obvious. This may prevent more expensive repairs and excessive fuel consumption.

MYTH: My vehicle is hard on fuel and I’ve done everything there is and there is nothing else I can do.

SAVE: Consider a Nitrogen Fill in your tires. Although this is fairly new technology, it is proven to increase fuel economy by sustaining a constant air pressure in your tires. Nitrogen also increases tire life by up to 30%. This service is also relatively inexpensive and should be considered especially when buying new tires.

There is a lot you will choose to believe about your car, and you can’t say that you’ve never heard or followed at least one of these myths. But now you know, and you can start saving again! And if you’re looking for more quality information about your vehicle, we’re always willing to provide you with some here at Capital Ford Lincoln!

Always a very hard worker here at Capital Ford Lincoln, Ryan’s long hour days and even coming in a few times on his day off, has finally earned him the title of Top Performer of the Month and he says “it feels pretty good.” Continue reading to learn more about Ryan!

Ryan has this air about him, one that always makes people feel so comfortable to talk to him, ask him questions about what they are looking for. He is forever easy going, easy to deal with and he doesn’t expect or assume anything about his customers. One of Ryan’s main goals is to make his clients feel relaxed by being easy to get along with, sharing a joke and being a very good active listener.

Paying close attention to a customers needs is very important to Ryan and he makes every need and concern they have about a vehicle as important to him as it is to them. If a customer is concerned about how many airbags a vehicle has, Ryan will treat the concern as if it were his own and make sure a vehicle has what the customer is looking for.

Ryan also goes above and beyond when it comes to showing new buyers how the features and options on their new vehicle work. He takes pride in being very thorough about this and his customers always appreciate it.

The most memorable moment from June for Ryan was being able to help a customer who was going through a lot of personal finance problems get into a 2008 Ford Edge Limited, that was not only much better than the vehicle he owned, but much safer as well.

Ryan is a hard worker, and will always continue to work hard because his clients are important to him.

Ryan Brecht’s Personal Thank You to his Customers!

“I would like to thank each and every customer for helping me to build and develop my client base. I appreciate the good feedback and being given the opportunity to do my job effectively, which in return creates an exciting buying experience.”

It’s summertime and the living is easy. Unfortunately the driving is most likely not. Hot weather, can be especially tough on your vehicle. Continue reading for five great tips to make commuting to work or taking that long awaited family road trip a little easier to deal with!

Keep Your Vehicle in Excellent Shape

It may seem obvious, but so many of us forget to have regular check-ups performed on our vehicles. One of the most important things you can do to make sure your vehicle is ready for summer is to maintain the engine – get a tune-up!

Different service centres offer different types of tune-ups, so ask questions and find out what your mechanic includes in their service. A quality tune-up will change the spark plugs if necessary and run a precise series of diagnostic tests and adjustments to maintain top engine performance.

Tune-ups normally do not include oil changes; chassis lubrication; brake work or inspection, tire rotation, balancing or alignment; or transmission fluid flush.
It’s a good idea to get all of this done at the same time.

Check your vehicle owner’s manual for a detailed service schedule and stick to it. Putting off engine maintenance may result in a breakdown where you really don’t want to have one, like during your morning commute. Regular maintenance goes a long way in helping keep the peace with your vehicle and the rest of the family.

Check Your Vehicle Fluids Regularly

By and large, oil should be changed every 10,000 km – 12,000 km or once a year, whichever comes first. If you use synthetic oil, such as the new Pennzoil Ultra set to be released this fall, recommended oil changes will be less often.

When changing your oil, it is also important to change the oil filter at the same time. You don’t want a dirty filter contaminating your new oil.

Coolant and antifreeze are the same fluid. Change these fluids once a year and be sure to flush the entire system to remove any built-up deposits. Ask your mechanic to check all hoses for any cracks or wear and tear.

Brake and steering fluids are critical to the operation of your vehicle. Open the hood and look to make sure proper levels are maintained, or have your mechanic go over the vehicle at every oil change. Check your wiper blades on a regular basis and be sure to have plenty of washer fluid in the reservoir and an extra container in the trunk just in case. Driving around with a dirty, streaky windshield is never a good idea.

Keep Your Tires Inflated

Maintaining your tires is an easy task that only takes a few minutes and will save you money and the potential for headaches down the road.

Always make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under-inflated tires cause unnecessary stress on the rubber, with the result being early and irregular tread wear. Proper tire inflation also helps improve your fuel economy, so that’s a bonus.

As funny as it may sound, get to know how your tires look when they are properly inflated. Recognizing any change in inflation becomes a little easier if you know what they look like at peak inflation. Keep a tire pressure gauge in the glove box and use it on a regular basis to check your tires. Refer to your owner’s manual for correct tire inflation rates. Do not use the figure posted on the sidewall of the tire. This is the maximum tire pressure allowed, not the proper tire pressure for everyday driving.

Before a trip, check the spare tire to confirm it’s secure and properly inflated. Also, make sure you know where the tire jack is and how to use it. As a way to become more comfortable with your automobile, get the family together and practice changing a tire before you leave. If your vehicle is equipped with a small spare tire, or foam filler as is the case with many new cars today, learn the basics of what to do in an emergency. If you are a member of an auto club, keep the number in your glove box as well as stored on your cell phone.

Develop an Emergency Kit

Now that your vehicle is all set for summer, you should take some time to develop an emergency kit to be stored in the trunk of your vehicle just in case something unforeseen happens. Here is a list of some of the essential items to include.

Energy bars
Bottled water (change every six months)
Emergency blanket
Extra clothing and shoes
First aid kit
Road maps
Whistle
Collapsible shovel
Scraper and snowbrush
Candle and matches
Flashlight (preferably wind-up)
Jumper cables
Road flares (minimum 2)
Electrical tape
Fire extinguisher

Included in every emergency kit should be a multi-purpose tool such as the new “Rescue Tool” by Victorinox. Developed in co-operation with emergency medical and rescue services, features include a window breaker, wire stripper, one-handed blade, Phillips screwdriver and belt cutter among others.

Wear Sunglasses While Driving

ZZ Top recommends buying a cheap pair of sunglasses in their classic song from 1980. While this may be a great back-up plan for the glove box, a pair of quality driving glasses is a much smarter way to go.

Most experts recommend polarized lens as they dramatically reduce haze and glare, reduce eye fatigue and allow the wearer to see objects more clearly. Some manufacturers use distortion-free optical glass. It is heavier than the plastic lenses found in less expense eyewear and it glass absorbs 100% of UVB rays and no less than 98.5% of harmful UVA rays.

While it may seem obvious for adults to include a quality pair of sunglasses as part of their regular commute or family trip, kids benefit just as much if not more. As reported on the website allaboutvision.com, experts believe our eyes get 80 per cent of their total lifetime exposure to the sun’s UV rays by age 18. So, it’s never too early for kids to begin wearing good quality sunglasses outdoors.

Conclusion

Summer drives are an experience to be shared with fellow commuters on the road and hopefully our families on vacation or weekend road trip. With a little planning and vehicle maintenance, it is certain to be more about the drive and less about unwanted stops. Plan for things to go wrong at some point and when they do the pain will be a little less stressful. And for those times when all is right, put on the shades and let the good times roll!

The question should be “Why wouldn’t I want to buy a Ford Fusion?”, and if you want to go a little further, you might to ask “Why wouldn’t I want to buy a Ford Fusion from Capital Ford Lincoln?”

Read on to find out all the reasons why you should buy Ford Fusion and more!

The car was named the 2010 car of the year by “Motor Trend” magazine. It cited the fact the Fusion is an economical, midsize sedan that won’t put a major dent in your pocketbook and that its one of the safest vehicles to be in. Besides standard four-wheel disc brakes, ABS, dual-stage airbags, and a variety of other active and passive safety measures, you can order a rearview camera system, as well as a Blind Spot Information System that warns you when another vehicle is hiding in your blind spot.

The original Ford Fusion came to market for the 2006 model year. The basics were there, but the car wasn’t fully baked. For 2010, Ford’s product teams gave the lineup a complete redevelopment so thorough, you would think the first-generation car never existed. Only the passenger-shell sheet metal and other basic architectural elements escaped being redesigned, upgraded, or replaced. Although a four-door sedan is the only body style offered, power-train choices expand from two to four, and each is new or substantially revised. There are several trim levels offered as well: base S, upmarket SE, luxurious SEL, a separate Sport model, and a Hybrid.

Everyone knows value is high on the list of potential buyers. Perhaps then, it’s here that the Fusion delivers its greatest pop. Starting at $19,695, the 2010 Fusion comes with a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 175 horsepower and 172 pound-feet of torque. EPA estimates for fuel economy with that engine mated to the six-speed automatic lead the family sedan class with 22 city/34 highway.

That $19,695 price will get you a Fusion S model with the 2.5-liter four-cylinder, power windows, locks and mirrors, air conditioning, 60/40 split rear seats, stylish 16-inch aluminum wheels. Moving up to a preferable $21,225 SE trim will allow you tons more options (including Sync) along with standard Sirius satellite radio, nicer trim and awesome looking snowflake-style 17-inch alloys.

The $24,655 SEL four-cylinder Fusion makes the optional and preferable six-speed automatic standard all the while giving you dual-zone automatic climate control, steering wheel mounted audio controls, auto headlamps, an auto-dim rear view mirror, standard Sync connectivity, eight-way power front seats and leather upholstery. That’s a great deal for a stylish, reliable and fully loaded family sedan.

What’s not to like. Passenger room is ample with plenty of room for legs in the back seat even with a six-footer sitting behind another six-footer. The trunk is another strong point with the Fusion as 16.5 cubic feet ranks it as one of the largest in its class and the drive is as quiet as can be.

In closing, if you are looking for the practicality of a well-appointed, well-engineered and crisp-handling family-sized four-door that also offers a choice of fuel-efficient four-or six-cylinder engines and available all-wheel drive, the 2010 Ford Fusion merits serious consideration for a spot in your garage.

Walk into Capital Ford Lincoln these days and you will see a lot of our employees smiling. They should be! Ford Canada says this past month was the company’s best monthly performance in a decade as sales were up by 15.7 percent. This likely makes Ford the top-selling automaker in the country for June. If this indeed proves to be the case, Ford will have led the market for two consecutive quarters for the first time in over 50 years.

Over 31 and a half thousand vehicles were sold across Canada in June (many of those coming out of the Capital Ford Lincoln lot) with car sales up by 23 percent and truck sales up by 13 percent. See what the CEO had to say about this awesome fact by reading on.

CEO David Mondragon is amazed at the numbers. In an interview, Mondragon says:

“When you see the Ford brand posted a 25 percent increase (last) June when the industry was down 14 percent, you see a 16 percent gain this June is extremely significant.”

This is just the beginning. Ford is introducing revamped models like the Fiesta that are starting to roll into lots. The company has announced employee pricing this summer for all 2010 and 2011 models, and the introduction of the new Explorer and the 2011 Focus are coming. Add it all up and it’s expected the smiles will only get bigger from our employees as the sales continue to pile up.
