I just finished reading Theo Fleury’s book Playing with Fire this weekend and as fate would have it I stumbled across a Ford article this morning about Theo and the Ford Flex. I enjoyed Playing with Fire, it was a page turner that I couldn’t put down and ended up finishing it in just a few sittings. He’s an interesting cat for sure! Theo’s won a Stanley Cup as a rookie with the Calgary Flames in 1989. Later, he captured a gold medal with the men’s hockey team at the 2002 Olympics. But with his career highs came the lows.
Former NHL star Theo Fleury also battled a barrage of demons including alcoholism, drug addiction and has made allegations of sexual abuse and has since turned those bad experiences into positive endeavors. Fleury has turned his life around and started over. He has drive, determination, and a new car to begin the journey – a 2010 Ford Flex Limited AWD SUV.
“I’m a bit of a traditionalist. Ford has been around a long time.
“I’ve driven lots of Ford products over the years and I’m super impressed with this one. I think this is the best model they’ve come out with,” says Fleury, who hung up his skates in 2009. Since then, he has been criss-crossing the country promoting his book, Playing with Fire.
Fleury’s Flex is loaded to the nines. “There are so many bells and whistles. I’m a gadget guy so I like that stuff – where you can hook your iPod up to the car, you can Bluetooth your phone.
“I don’t think you could put another thing on it. We even got our website logo on it so we use it for advertising,” says Fleury, who just started the Theo Fleury Foundation to support abused men.
The Flex is an awesome utility vehicle with tons of room for your passengers and with the extra bells and whistles you’ll be riding in style and comfort. We’ve always got a great selection at Capital Ford. Let us know what you think of the Flex. The conversations about it’s shape and appearance always turn out as controversial as Theo!

WOW, that’s cool. I plan on buying his book soon, sounds interesting. I don’t know about the Flex, I’m on the fence for the appearance but LOVE the inside. The refrigerator and freezer works really well for my sisters family and is their favorite part.
We’ve bought our Flex at Capital and the refrigerator and freezer is perfect. We’ve used it countless times to keep the Dairy Queen frozen on our way home. I’m not a big hockey fan but am interested and read Theo’s book – I was actually searching for information on his book when I found this, its a small world!
Really enjoyed the book, was blown away by some of the details… We’re considering an Flex and have driven one in particular a few times. Really really great service so far from Capital!
