The Blind Spot Information System (BLIS^®) has sensors that detect when another vehicle is present in your blind spot, and then illuminates a light on your sideview mirror to help alert you. Blind Spot Information System is one of the available safety systems on the 2010 Taurus.

How about Cruise Control that adapts to traffic?

Available adaptive cruise control is radar enabled cruise control that allows you to choose one of three pre-set gaps between your Taurus and the car in front of you. When sensors detect traffic slowing, or if a vehicle pulls in front of you, your vehicle slows down to maintain your minimum distance. When the system detects that traffic has cleared, your vehicle resumes your preset speed.

Collision warning with brake support

No one wants to think about having an accident. But this available feature may help to ease your mind. This technology works in conjunction with adaptive cruise control, and it helps in case an accident appears imminent. The system alerts you if it senses a potential collision with the car in front of you. A “heads-up” display, which simulates brake lights, flashes on the windshield. If you don’t react, the brakes will precharge and increase brake-assist sensitivity to provide full responsiveness when you do apply the brake.
